Rehearsal Dinner

rehearsal invite

Before the big day comes the wedding rehearsal and dinner. This is the perfect time for you wedding party to get to know each other better, if they don’t already. It is also your chance to see how the procession will go and to see if you need to make any minor changes. To keep your changes to a minimum and save stress, try to make sure you have these important things taken care of ahead of time.

 rehearsal invite

Send out your rehearsal dinner invitations a few days after you send the wedding invitations. The invitations do not have to be extravagant, they can be simple or an understated version of your wedding invitations. If you have a small bridal party it’s alright to let them know by word of mouth.

The wedding rehearsal dress is usually a white cocktail dress. This is a beautiful rehearsal dress from Nordstrom’s for a fancy cocktail dinner.

champagne bar

You don’t need to go all out with food and a bar for the rehearsal dinner like you will be for your wedding. A simple champagne bar with fruit will go nicely with a cocktail dinner.

rehearsal dress

If your rehearsal is a more laid-back theme then you might consider wearing something similar to this dress from Beauxx with flats for a classy and casual look.

For a more casual rehearsal dinner, try a barbecue or a picnic outside instead of an indoor fancy dinner. Your bridal party might find it easier to get to know each other at a casual event rather than sitting in designated spots at one big table.

If you want to have a barbecue or picnic, you might also want to consider wearing a non-traditional dress. A white dress is going to show any and all stains, so if you’re clumsy or prone to spilling things, choose a colored dress like this one from Nordstrom’s.

For cute snacks, serve your wedding party cookies that match the theme of your wedding cake. Most bakeries will give you a special discount if you order all of your treats from the same place, so consider that when you go looking for a cake.

To make sure the wedding rehearsal runs smoothly and quickly, ask anyone not required to be at the rehearsal to please meet you at the dinner. You only need the wedding party, officiate, and any singers or readers to be at the wedding rehearsal. Doing this will ensure that you can make sure the ceremony the next day will go as planned, and you can get on to your rehearsal dinner and mingle with your guests there.

How To: Have a Texas Summer Wedding

Summer weddings have always been popular, mainly because you think an outdoor wedding will be breezy and beautiful. In Texas, this is only half true sometimes! You can still have your dream outdoor summer wedding, though. There are a few simple things you can do to make your wedding a little less hot and a lot more enjoyable.

If you are set on having an outdoor ceremony, try compromising with an indoor reception.

You and your guests will be a lot happier if you are not out in the heat the whole time. Lotus Ranch in Wimberly, Tx is a venue that offers this capability.

wedding fan

Provide paper fans for your guests to keep cool during the ceremony. You can incorporate your wedding program on the fans for an additional fee and your guests can take them home as a souvenir of your special day. They can come in all sizes, shapes, and colors to match your theme.

Make sure that you have plenty of cold, non-alcoholic refreshments to keep guests hydrated. Lemonade and tea are the most popular non-alcoholic beverages for summer but milk and cookie bars are growing in popularity, as well. And, of course, always have water available, too.

If you are thinking of having darker colored bridesmaid dresses, you might want to reconsider. If they are long, think about choosing a lighter shade of the same color. If you really love the color you have chosen then consider having the dresses short instead of long. Ultimately it’s your wedding, but you also want it to be memorable and enjoyable for your guests, too.

Top 2013 Wedding Themes

Country Chic

Country weddings can be casual but elegant and are very romantic! If you know someone who has land that you can use with a barn or a pretty field, that is a great way to save money. Decorate with barrels, sunflowers, and watering cans; they sound silly now but will look like effortless planning. If you prefer, you can even wear cowboy boots under your dress!

Beachy Paradise

Beach weddings will always be in season and you don’t even have to live near a nice beach! Have a destination wedding or if you’re on a budget, simply decorate with seashells, sea glass, driftwood and sand to create the illusion. Beach themed colors are blues, greens, and tan tones.

Old Hollywood Glamour

Get inspired by 1940s glitz and glam and look to people like Katherine Hepburn for inspiration. Dress in vintage with pearls, and the groomsmen should wear tuxes with bowties to complete the glamourous look. Find decorations with lots of bling, like gold, pearls, crystals, and silver.

Vineyard Theme

Even if you don’t love wine, a vineyard theme can also create the illusion of a destination wedding if you decorate for a more Tuscan vineyard look. Decorate with grapes and colors that complement them, like deep purples, reds, and pale greens. If you can find a winery that will double as a wedding venue, they may even give you a discounted price on their wine for the reception.

Winter Wonderland

A winter theme wedding is gaining popularity; curling up by the fire with your hubby sounds so romantic! Decorate with white, silver, and blue; blue lights make for an especially pretty winter look! Put crystals everywhere and it won’t look overdone, and if it’s in your budget, order an ice sculpture.

Summer Weddings are Near!

Summer is coming up quickly and it’s a beautiful time for weddings! Most flowers are in season and a lot of warm colors become popular, which makes it easier to decorate your theme. The bad thing about summer in Texas? It’s hot!! Here are some ideas to help you and your guests stay safe from the hot sun and enjoy your day instead.

Provide sunscreen packets for guests who forgot to bring their own. This is especially helpful if you are having an outdoor reception with limited shade available.

fan program

Program fans are perfect for an outdoor ceremony because they let your guests know what is going on and keeps them cool at the same time! They are also very easy to coordinate with your color scheme.

Put a table with sunglasses near the entrance for guests to grab before they sit down so everyone can enjoy the ceremony without squinting the whole time. You can find some cute and cheap, generic sunglasses online.

bug spray

If your ceremony or reception is in an area highly populated by bugs, provide your guests with bug protection. Skin So Soft is my personal favorite and it works best against mosquitoes because they don’t like the smell. (Added bonus! It makes your skin so soft and silky, hence the name)

Instead of plain water add lemons, limes, or cucumbers to add a little refreshing flavor.

lights lights

Lanterns and fairy lights are cute ways to light up the night in the summertime. Electric candles can be bought online or found at a dollar store and put in mason jars. Fill them with colored glass pebbles for a nice colorful glow!

A Twist On Outdoor Seating

So you’re planning you’re wedding.  You have decided to have it outside and you have picked out the arch, the aisle, the aisle decor but the only question remaining is what are you’re guests going to sit on?  You could go with the traditional seating that everyone has already seen or you can turn it up a notch.

Add some throw pillows on the benches for a more home like feel outdoors.  Its also a great way to tie in you’re colors in a simple way on these plain wooden benches.

Maybe its a destination wedding outside on a beach?  These clear chairs are cool because they don’t take away from the natural beauty of the beach.

These plastic lawn chairs could be fun for a summer wedding.  Its a cute way to tie in all of you’re colors and then you can even keep them after the wedding for later use!

I love these small wooden benches covered in vintage fabrics!  This would be absolutely precious for an earthy theme.

These cushioned pallets are not only clean and simple looking but also comfortable for guests!  Spreading flower petals on them is also a great idea for adding in some decorations.

Alternating bench colors between wood and white is such a great idea.  It adds a little something extra that I had never seen before.

Tree stumps with wood planks are a great idea for an outdoor wedding and cost efficient too!

From tree stumps to vintage covered cushions these innovative ideas for wedding seating are a must.

The Perfect Wedding Arch

From the classic look to a completely innovative idea; who knew there were so many choices for a wedding arch these days?  Creativity seems to be key when it comes to weddings and I had no idea there were so many options for wedding arches.  Hopefully, if you have been debating about what kind of arch to get married under, these ideas will help you out!

These doors with a small chandelier are a great twist to a rustic/antique wedding theme.  The different textures and colors of the doors would look great in pictures and would add a little something extra to the wedding aisle.

For a beach wedding you can piece together shells to assemble a breathtaking arch.  This could be a great DIY project and will save a few extra bucks too!

This simple piece of fabric draped over the tree branches is beautiful for a wedding arch.  You could even spice it up with colored or printed fabric to add more color to the backdrop.

All of these arches are great because they are fairly simple and cost efficient.  Some of these you can even do yourself which could be a fun project for you and you’re bridesmaids or maybe even you and you’re soon to be husband.  Hopefully these ideas will help spark you’re creative juices and assist you in planning out how you would like you’re wedding arch to be!

Getaway Cars!!!

get away car picture

The last few weddings that I have done have all had adorable “getaway cars.” One had a gorgeous vintage turquoise truck, one had and Austin Pedicap take them off into the night, and one couple rode away on the grooms prized Harley Davidson. All of these are different modes of transportation but all of them had the guests just raving about how cool their exit was. Having a fun or different get away car is aways a great little cherry on the sunday at the end of the night as one more little detail that will have the guests talking about your wedding for years to come!!!! Happy Planning!!!
